Tuesday September 28th

Read: Psalm 27

Learn: This Psalm was written by David, King of Israel. David made many mistakes in his life, but God still called him a man after His heart. Mistakes still have consequences however, and David’s life, especially his family life, was a constant source of trouble. In this Psalm David is dealing with trouble. In the opening line he writes, “The Lord is my light and salvation… the Lord is the stronghold of my life.” The mere existence of these words implies David is dealing with darkness, needs saving, and is feeling weak. This is all remarkable considering David was the most powerful man in the kingdom and a skilled warrior. But we all feel this way sometimes, don’t we? David reacted to his troubles by writing this Psalm and praising God. In it he is bold as he declares the strength of God over his enemies and says, “wait for the Lord, let your heart be strong and take courage, wait on the Lord!”

Reflect: Do you boldly praise God in the face of your troubles? Do you wait on the Lord’s timing in your life and live out your faith boldly as you are waiting?

Pray: God, I pray for boldness in my faith during my troubles. I will wait on you in all things. I know that your timing is perfect and you always have a reason for your actions. In Jesus name, Amen.
